Dr. Rabindra Nath Shaw earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, India, followed by a masters from the University of Calcutta, India. He then turned his passion for renewable energy into a doctorate that explored the performance enhancement of photovoltaic power generation systems. Dr. Shaw is currently working as Grid Connection Manager at Baywa r.w. He is a Senior Member of IEEE Power Energy and Industry Applications Society He has organized more than 20 IEEE International Conferences as chair and more than 150 workshops/seminars as convener.
Rabindra has over 14 years of extensive experience in overseeing and leading a variety of power system projects for specialized power system companies such as Middleton Group and FGC Australia. He has completed work on a range of projects including electrical network studies, asset modelling and simulations, grid compliance evaluations, assessments of network interconnections between conventional and renewable generation sources, as well as conducting front-end engineering studies and providing construction support.
His roles have included the development of project execution methodologies, conducting thorough reviews, management of customer expectations and delivering technical solutions and support. Rabindra has played a pivotal role in numerous grid performance studies in Australia evaluating compliance with NEM (National Electricity Market) and Western Power technical regulations.
Dr. Shaw has formed a worldwide CIGRE working group focusing on “Regulatory Frameworks and Market Integration for Assets under Non-Firm Grid Connection.” (WG C5.39) as convenor.
